“Over the last couple of years the digital sector’s growth has outstripped that of anywhere else in the UK. With the development of initiatives such as MediaCityUK and the Sharp Project this growth will continue, even in these tough times. While new investment will help deliver this growth, it is imperative that indigenous businesses get the support they need and are aware of the important role they play within the local and national supply chain.
Manchester Digital’s Big Chip Awards has provided a platform for excellence within the digital sector and given a focal point to the digital community. It has also raised awareness of business and career opportunities in the region and highlighted strengths in research, development and education.
As for MIDAS’ role within the sector and the economy – MIDAS is a key player in securing new investment and helping to ensure the sector’s continued growth. We promote the sector nationally and internationally as a leading location for creative business and Europe’s second largest media centre.
In my opinion Big Chip is the industry’s most important event in the city region, bringing together the key players and creative forces to celebrate success, network and share intelligence and ideas. That said, in the near future I would like it to be thoughts of as the most important digital event nationally.”
This blog is a conversation, a collaboration and an engagement. It is an open invitation for you to talk about what the Big Chip Awards mean to you, in the past, absolutely right now and in the future. The blog will evolve as we or you choose it to. Let us know what you want.
